About Lanacane

Winter Itching can range from slightly itchy skin to red, cracked, chapped irritated patches of skin. Wind, low humidity and cold air are the main causes. If localized itching does develop, Lanacane® Anti-Itch Cream, contains skin moisturizing vitamins E, A, D and Aloe. Lanacane® also contains an anti-bacterial that knocks out germs to help prevent infection of irritated skin.

Sunburn can range from mild to severe redness of the skin. The skin can actually feel hot to the touch. It can be initially painful and there may be blistering in severe cases. Sunburned skin can also itch, but be too sensitive to scratch or even to touch when you apply medication with your hands. In this case, you need the pain-relieving antiseptic action of Lanacane® Anti-Bacterial First Aid Spray. Lanacane® Spray can numb the itch and the burning and you don't have to touch the tender skin. It relieves pain on contact and contains skin moisturizing aloe and Vitamin E. An anti-bacterial helps prevent infection. To help prevent sunburn, use sunscreen when outdoors. And pay extra attention to small children to make sure they wear sunscreen even when playing in the backyard. Wear a hat to protect the sensitive skin on the head and face from sun damage.

Prickly Heat (also known as heat rash) is a hot weather skin ailment that usually pops up around the neck, inside of elbows, underarm and groin areas. It appears as tiny, red bumps that feel "prickly" or itch and may burn. Lanacane® Anti-Bacterial First Aid Spray is a cooling topical anesthetic to numb the itch. To prevent prickly heat use powders containing cornstarch to keep skin dry.

Insects and Your Skin

Mosquito Bites are the most common bug bite. The bite usually swells slightly into a red, itchy bump. Use Lanacane® Anti-Itch Cream for pain and itch relief. Benzocaine (the active ingredient in Lanacane®) soothes itching faster than hydrocortisone. And Lanacane® has an anti-bacterial to help prevent infection from scratching.

Bee and wasp stings are painful. These stings cause pain and itching that can last for hours. Lanacane® Anti-Itch Cream helps stop painful itching fast. To help prevent being stung, cover food when outdoors so bees and wasps aren't attracted. Place a cup of soda or another sweet beverage far away from your activity to attract bees and wasps away from you. If they do appear, calmly leave the area. They will not usually sting unless they are provoked.

Bee and wasp stings can be serious to individuals with an allergy. Symptoms such as difficulty breathing or swallowing, hoarseness, swelling of the tongue, dizziness or fainting are signs of a severe sting allergy. If someone exhibits these symptoms following an insect sting, seek medical help immediately.

Plants and Your Skin

Poison Ivy, Oak, Sumac have an allergenic effect on most people. Contact with these plants may cause redness, severe swelling, rash, oozing blisters and intense itching within 48 hours. Lanacane® Anti-Itch Cream quickly stops the intense itching. If skin is too sensitive to touch, use Lanacane® Anti-Bacterial First Aid Spray. If sensitive areas such as eyes, mouth or groin area are exposed to these plants or you experience nausea, severe swelling, vomiting or stomach cramps, you should seek medical help immediately.

Allergies and Your Skin

Allergic Itch can be caused by any number of things including pet dander, particular foods and plants. Most minor skin itches caused by allergy can be quickly relieved with Lanacane® Gel, Anti-Itch Cream and Spray.

Chafing and Your Skin

Learn more about chafing and how to prevent it with personal trainer Amy Gilberg

Chafing can happen to anyone any time skin rubs on skin or skin rubs on clothing. Contributing to chafing is heat, humidity and sweating. All of these factors can combine to create painful, irritated areas on your skin. Chafing can be brought on by physical activity such as sports, jogging, bicycling, lawn work, home improvement or just normal daily activities such as walking, housework and shopping. New clothes and shoes can also cause chafing. Chafing if left untreated, may lead to infection.

The most common areas for chafing are between the thighs, under the arms, around the waist band, under the breast/chest, elbows, heel, and around the neck.

Stopping chafing before it starts is the ideal solution. Lanacane™ Anti-Chafing Gel has a special anti-friction formula that prevents chafing.
