Cetraben - feel the difference in mild to moderate eczema and dry skin
Healthy Skin
The skin acts as a natural protective barrier, preventing irritants from entering the body. Like a wall, it is made up of bricks (skin cells) and joined together by mortar (lipid). In healthy skin, the cells are full of water and fit tightly together, leaving no gaps between them.
Eczematous skin
Skin becomes dry when there is a lack of lipid between the cells. Water is lost from the cells and they shrink and crack, leaving gaps in between them where the irritants can penetrate. The body's defence system reacts to the invasion which produces inflammation, causing redness, swelling and itching.
Complete emollient therapy
Cetraben reduces some of the missing lipids to fill in the gaps between the cells and reduces water loss. Regular use of Cetraben can help to repair the abnormal skin barrier and reduce inflammation.
Managing eczematous skin
To maintain healthy skin you should avoid all irritants, which breakdown the skin barrier, and use emollients regularly, to repair the skin barrier
