Altwood Pharmacy has served the local community in Maidenhead for more than 20 years (although we weren't always called Altwood Pharmacy). In 2007 we became concerned by the proliferation of illegal online pharmacies. We were aware that customers were putting themselves at risk by purchasing medicines from these illegal online pharmacies. The drugs supplied by these illegal websites were very often fake and we were hearing of more and more customers coming to harm as a result of taking these fake medicines. We realised that we needed to offer our customers an online alternative that was legal and safe. Therefore in December 2007 www.AltwoodPharmacy.com was born. Our website was registered with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB). On October 1st 2010 the regulatory function or the RPSGB was transferred to the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and we are now registered with the GPhC. Our Pharmacy Team aims to offer the same level of service to our online customers as we have always provided to our customers in store. We welcome feed back so please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or queries.
About the Superintendent Pharmacist
The Superintendent Pharmacist is Mr Kamal Mahasuria BSc. (Hons) MRPharmS. Sup. Presc. Ind. Presc. GPhC Registration Number: 2033761.
Kamal graduated from The University of Aston in Birmingham in 1986 with a First Class Honours Degree in Pharmacy. After completing a Pre-Registration year at Boots Kamal qualified as a Pharmacist in August 1987. After qualifying Kamal worked as a locum pharmacist in and around London and the Home Counties. In 1992 Kamal accepted an offer of a management position at Moss Pharmacy in Maidenhead. Kamal was able to successfully complete a buyout of the Maidenhead branch of Moss Pharmacy and Altwood Pharmacy came into being.
In 2006 Kamal went back to University to study at The University of Reading in Berkshire and successfully qualified as a Supplementary Prescriber in July 2006. In February 2007, after a further period of study at Reading University, Kamal became one of the first pharmacists in the UK to qualify as an Independent Prescriber.
Kamal is also the Chairman of Berkshire Local Pharmaceutical Committee (LPC) which represents all of Berkshire's Pharmacies - small and large.
In his spare time (of which there is very little!) Kamal enjoys playing squash and playing golf - both of which he does very badly!
Kamal also enjoys sci-fi (apparently what he doesn't know about Star Wars isn't worth knowing) and listening to music. His taste in music is questionable. He has insisted that we post the following video on this page. We did try to persuade him that this was not a good idea but he is the boss and we had no choice. So please accept our apologies for this in advance:
The only thing that will persuade Kamal to let us remove this video is pressure from our customers - so please write to us to complain and if we get enough support we will be able to remove this video. We look forward to hearing from you.
If you wish to contact Kamal directly please email him on: firstname.lastname@example.org.
